VOLUNTEER TRAINING is CLOSED. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped us reach over 13,000 low income tax payers for the 2007 tax year. Your dedication and passion are sincerely appreciated. We hope you will be able to join us again for the 2008 tax season when training begins in November. We would also like to increase our volunteer pool of Spanish speaking preparers - if you know of anyone who is bilingual, please encourage them to volunteer . Update on Savings Bonds Pilot CASH was selected to participate in a small national pilot project to offer savings bonds to clients at our Mondawmin Mall and Bon Secours Tax Preparation sites. For the first time clients had an opportunity to purchase a savings bond using a portion of their 2007 tax refund right at the site. So far the program is succeeding in encouraging good savings habits. 32 tax sites from 15 organizations participated in the pilot along with Baltimore CASH. An impressive total of $202,550 worth of bonds were ordered through this program! The typical saver was female (81%), and a parent (74%) or grandparent (15%). Also 79% percent of those who chose to put some of their refund toward savings bonds reported having a checking account that they “use all the time”.

MONEY POWER DAY 08 Album! Money Power Day 2008 was a huge success! Over 1000 people came out to have fun and sharpen their money skills. We wanted to share some of the great photos of the event. Take a look, maybe you can spot someone you know. We are already planning for Money power Day 09.
